Hi! I'm Alex.
I'm a painter, tattooist, maker of things. I hail from Minneapolis, MN and relocated to SLC in 2018.
I've been working as a professional tattooist since 2009, including a two year apprenticeship. My favorite types of things to tattoo include illustrative, art nouveau, neo traditional, plants, botanicals, birds, animals, nautical/ exotica, and lady heads. I strive to create tattoos of all sizes that compliment the natural flow of the body, inspire confidence and make the wearers feel like they are meant to be there.
I currently reside at Locust tattoo collective in SLC (1827s 300w) We are a multi artist shop with private rooms, mine is ADA accessible on the first floor.
When I’m not in the studio I enjoy roller skating, collecting tiki mugs, hiking, glamping with friends, hanging out with my dogs, building weird stuff in the backyard, all the coffee, road trips and treasure hunting.
Art Life
I've been making stuff for as long as I can remember- arts and crafts, DIY anything. I picked up oil painting late in high school and into college. From there I began creating live art, mostly with friend's bands and at local music festivals. At this time I was also starting my apprenticeship in Minneapolis. After some time my painting was influenced by the more geometric style tattoos I was into making, which evolved into multi- layer woodcuts years later. I’ve dabbled in the incorporation of stained glass and resins as well. Most recently my art has come full circle back into the traditional tattoo art of watercolor paintings.
Commissions
Art commissions closed as I’m pouring most of my energy into tattoo creation. If you are interested in owning some of my art, I have many original pieces for sale: visit Urban Arts Gallery in SLC or contact me for more info.
